| Good Afternoon HBA, Thank you to all who attended our member meeting last month. It was a great time and as shown by attendance and undoubtedly we are on the path to participation levels not seen in the past few years. We ratified an amendment to our bylaws to adopt an additional version of membership, the Affiliate Member. This will allow us to gain and retain members within our HBA that are already part of the state and national level associations. Additionally, I had the pleasure to swear in our newest member to the board, Dan Sweeney from Pella to his first of many terms. Welcome aboard Dan! We also had the opportunity to recognize members that have met participation milestones. We recognized 5, 10,15 and 20 year milestones. Many recipients were in attendance to receive their award and those unable to attend will be hand delivered or mailed. Without the commitment of our members and especially our longtime legacy members our association would not exist. Thank you all! I am very excited to announce that we have been in the early stages to revitalize the Capstone program at Lakeland HS. There will be lots to follow on this, but what a great opportunity to build this program with the help of the Lakeland School Board and District from the bottom up to rebuild interest in trades and help train the future business leaders in construction here in the Northwoods. A big change coming and you should have already received an email from the WBA in the past few weeks that announce the CHANGE TO DCQ CREDENTIALS. This will be effective 1 Nov 2022 and you will need to show that you have completed four of the 12 required credits in subject matter that includes construction laws and codes and contracts, liability, and risk management. There is still guidance coming out on this but we will be offering 6 credits at our Contractor Day, Jan 26th and we are looking to the possibility of offering courses to satisfy this requirement as well. Lastly, with the snow in the air it is a reminder that our Christmas party is right around the corner Dec 2nd.
